What is the reason for the 25% Argon in shielding gas? I bought a couple tanks of it when I first bought my MIG, but recently switched to straight CO2 at half the cost and can tell no difference whatsoever. They're putting it in there for a reason, I just can't tell what it is.

We have also gone 100% CO2. Only difference we see is 100% CO2 spatters more. I read that 100% CO2 penetrates a bit better than CO2 / Argon. 100% CO2 is much more economical and you get so much more gas volume in a given tank size because pure CO2 is stored as a liquid, CO2 / Argon is not.
