| There were some years of Drill Doctor that were built wrong. That never cut the tip of the bit so it would cut. I believe they replaced the drill bit holding chucks so they work. The detail is probably a matter of turning the bit in the chuck so it gets cut right with the cutting edge being the longest part with clearance relief behind it. If the cam on the chuck is in the wrong place it will cut a hump behind the cutting edge and that bit will only cut when used as a blunt punch with a large hammer driving it. Twisting it is a waste of time. But twisting the bit in the Drill Doctor chuck so it gets cut right be worth the experiments. That positioning is undoubtedly affected by the helix angle of the bit and there's no standard in the world to set that for ordinary drill bits.
