S.E. Iowa | Before you get carried away first go get a new plug and try it. Many years of working on car taught me that the threads in the pan usually don't get damaged as often as the threads on the plug. The plug threads seem to be softer than the material the pan is made of, at least in the case of steel pans. Rubber expansion plugs do work very well but get one that is designed as a replacement oil plug Dorman is a good source for them. Ive never had really good luck using the self tapping oversize plugs but they are an option . | |
