They do recommend it on the top of the cab. There are a couple reasons for this. 1 is that if you have it on the hood you can get multipath off the windshield and if you run the antenna cable passed the alternator it can mess up the signal. 2 when using the edrive w/ tilt in setup you need to have the antenna on the roof. On those tractors mfwd auto shuts off at 10.
