Please take a moment to remember that this rally is coming on the backs of some farmers whose crops are being destroyed. Hopefully they will have enough insurance to be able to try again next year. They have my sympathy, coming from one who has experienced crop failure myself.
I can't help feeling uncomfortable about an economic system where the prosperity of half the producers depends on the misfortune of the other half. It still seems to me that American grain farmers are forced to carry too much of the weather risk while the speculators (who we still need) get to make good profits on it without really taking any serious risk.
