New Brunswick, Canada | The posts embedded in the ground is what provides wind bracing for the building. Sitting them on concrete doesn't replace that so you end up needing braces to trusses or a shear wall inside or something so it doesn't blow over. Especially important if you have big doors on the ends such that they don't brace the building. To me you can do an aweful lot in a 16 ft shop considering the cost to raise it.
If you do raise it likely cheaper to raise it at the tops of the posts and add steel at the top. | |
