Lander, WY | Thanks for the suggestion, I'll consider that. I planned on putting insulation under the concrete and insulating the perimeter of the slab to try to keep it from getting too cold. Maybe I should make some pads that sit under the piglet area, at least give them that area that they won't be on concrete.
I had thought about pouring a 3 inch curb to keep the hut up off the slab, but wet isn't common here, other than snow sitting against it in the winter time. The sows won't be locked in the hut, except maybe right after farrowing if it's cold out, so they will hopefully not get it too dirty.
I've been pen farrowing in a closed in room in the barn, so I'm sure I'll have a bit of a learning curve here... | |
