Ontario

Red, remember 2003-2006?  $2.50/bu corn?  Did any livestock producer offer to pay even $3.00?  Remember a countervail duty in Ontario?  And who opposed it?

2006 onwards...  The first 3-4 years only made up for that discrepancy...

I'm all for having pricing somewhere in the middle:  But can it happen?  $3 is not cutting it for grain farmers, nor is $8 for livestock farmers.

I will tell you that $5 is not being greedy on the part of a grain farmer.  That is what it costs...  If you think it is too much, then the type of market gyrations will continue...  From too cheap to too expensive.

I'll sell you some corn at $5, if you want.  But not at $4.  Won't grow corn at $4, after 2003-2006.  Crop budgets tell me so.  Inputs coming down?

You have mentioned land at $16K +.  Its not just grain farmers paying that price.  Been beat out on land and rents by livestock, just as much as grain farmers.  So it is a bigger issue at play...

Sorry if this comment offends you, but it has been both ways...
