Leesburg, Ohio | We used to try to handle seed with a 2440 JD and 146 loader...the only way it would work at all was to unload bags by hand to another pallet to get down to about 30 bags max/pallet. This was with liquid in the rear tires and eight rear weights. The loader wouldn't handle any more. The 145 loader would be the same loader with smaller cylinders, and less capacity. Then tried a skid loader...more hydraulics but less balance. Finally bought a $1200 hard tire forklift, and was the best money spent for the job. Upgraded a few years ago to a pneumatic tire forklift with enough height to dump bulk bags into hopper wagons. Get along good even on gravel if we're careful. FWIW Ken | |
