Subject: Re: Lifting Seed Pallets w/ Front End Loader

I would not recomend using pallet forks on a farm tractor loader for unloading pallets of seed. I had a 4020 w/ 148 loader & it to pick up a full pallet (66 bgs) we had to take off several bags first. About 40 -45 bags was the max. Also a farm loader is not stable enough IMO & with a pallet out front takes lot's of room to manuver. WE also wore out an almost new set of 4 rib front tires in two springs of unloading/loading seed. I would strongley recomend going to a fork truck. Much more manuverable & they are designed for the job. I have seen a couple guys put forklift masts (off a forktruck not those flimsy things you can buy fore the 3pt) and they do a decent job but you will need plenty of front end weights.
