Subject: Omnistar convergence time.... ugh!!!!

We ran Omnistar this past spring on our Trimble 252 GSP receiver to control the EZ-Steer and were less than satisfied with the system. Is it typical for Omnistar to take 45 minutes to an hour to get down to its 3"-4" convergence? Also, EVERY SINGLE TIME we got close to any trees or a building site, Omnistar was forced to reconverge. Needless to say, we didn't have straight rows becasue who has time to sit in the tractor for 45 minutes waiting for Omnistar to reconverge? Is this pretty typical of this system or are we doing something wrong? I know you can use Ag Remonte to change a variable (can't remember right now which one) in the 252 so that if you shut the tractor off at night and start it back up in the exact same location in the field it will converge more quickly but we put everything in the shed at night so thats not an option. Just out of curiousity, when running RTK what happens if you were to briefly lose site of the RTK base station? Will the tractor continue along its path as best it can or will it stop running all together? Might be something to look into.
