If you take calf weights at weaning and the older cows are right in there with everything else, they can stay another year. If calf weight drops, probably time to go. Sometimes they will have a nice calf, but not raise nice calf. Sometimes I rob a calf from OLD cow to give to younger cow. I have some cows in 13+ calves range, and they still look good.
