You are correct. The 87302445 serial connector gets connected to the null modem cable (18532), which in turn is connected to the lightbar serial port. The 3-pin pigtail on the 87302445 is an optional means of supplying power to many receivers. I don't know if it will work with the EZ-Guide Plus. I would just supply power to the lightbar using the standard round 4-pin power cable, and leave the 3-pin connector on the 87302445 unused.
