Subject: 2007 Diesel engines - not going to be very good

Big Country Area, area in and around Abilene TX
That is the word from my BIL who delivers new trucks from various truck factories.

They will require a special made diesel fuel, can not use the diesel being sold today.

I got an advance warning about it just by looking at the warning sticker on the Diesel fuel pumps at the Murphy USA stations located next to the Super Walmart's here in Texas. They warn against using it in 2007 diesel engines.

New diesel fuel will have less btu than the present fuel, will take more gallons of fuel to operate.

It sounds like bad news all around. Story is that the cost per engine will be $8K or more extra per engine. Both big trucks and maybe the 3/4 ton and 1 tons also.

Can not say if it affects Ag Equipment also. Most likely it will.

Also was told that 2009 is another year for change in diesel engine standards that will drive the prices even higher and etc.

Okay, let's see what the rest of you think and can find out about it.

Sounds like time to do some serious chewing out of your US Rep and US Sen about the 2007 and 2009 EPA standards and etc.
