Others may say other wise, but a v-8 does not have as many crank bearing per pistons as a straight 6 does.  Think about it.  So said my Dad.  Don't think those v-8 were made to take the continues load like you can put on a tractor hr after hr.  They might be ok in a truck getting up to speed and then running down the road.
