Little River, TX
Jeff,

I am afraid we are into apples and oranges.

We want our hay analysis to report roughly 0.30% P & 2.15% K for their respective Critical Nutrient Concentration for both alfalfa and for bermudagrass hay fo optimum quality and quantity.

The way people throw around CEC makes my head spin. It is always dangerous to assume, but I am assuming the CEC refered to is a computed CEC based on the soil analysis values of K, Mg, Ca, Na, and possibly H.
What confuses me is a CEC is really a measure of the ability of the soil to attract to clay particles and to a lessor extent to organic matter. A soil with a depleted potassium level may compute a lower CEC but the clay has not changed.
It is my opinion that a computed CEC is extremely unreliable, that only a measured CEC will be accurate.

It is the name Littrell that interested me. During the 1960's I was in the AF with a Don Lithrell, who originally hailed from a deep valley in Tennessee or Kentucky. Is it possible you might be related?

Bill Wilson Texas Hay Farmer. .
