NE Iowa
I don't think the magical Ca:Mg of 6-7:1 is necessary for high yields but I do think my 2:1 is holding me back. I think the higher the Mg level the more N I need to apply. Based on years of end of season stalk nitrate tests I need to apply at least 1.2-1.4# of N per bu of corn. Anything less and I come back that N was limiting yield. As for the high rate of S, I don't want it to be the yield limiting factor and a little excess S flushing some of the excess Mg can't hurt.
