I'd be interested to hear 560's thoughts, but for us rolling has become standard practice for anything (soy or dry edible) we intend to straight cut. Even in the valley fields w/o rocks.

ndsu's weed guy is big on broadaxe as the best pre. we still use prowl h20. It's getting touchy though. we get good results when we harrow in the prowl quickly after application. had a field last year that was half applied, caught rain, then we finished applying and harrow-packed the whole thing. Definitely sub-optimal control in the pre-rain spot.

google the ndsu micro-rate for beans. thats becoming standard practice in non-sugar beet areas.
