Floyd County, Iowa | We make it in summer and winter. Gotta have it on all birthdays with the cake. Try using ice chips instead of the small ice cubes. Makes all the difference in freezing time. The finer the ice, the quicker it freezes. When I was a kid (50+ years ago) Dad would put ice cubes in a burlap bag and beat it with a hammer to get the cubes broken up into small pieces. Never knew why he did that until I actually read the instruction page that came with our third new electric ice cream maker - it said to use chips. The kids' job was to crank it while Dad kept the ice ready. | |
