West Texas

Well remember the old horse drawn wagon coming by the house a couple times a week and putting a 25 lb block of ice in the icebox. Close on his heels was the milkman bringing the glass jugs of milk. Growing up in town, we had many convinences that we didn't have on the ranch. There was an ice house next to the RR tracks where the boxcars were topped off with ice. They had a grinder on the docks and we would go get bags of ice to make ice cream in the summer time. During the winter we would always make snoww cream with all of the snow falls after the 1st snow. Momma would not let us use the 1st snow fall as it was supposed to be full of all the summer dirt.
Of course that brings back the memories of the kerosene lamps and cook stoves. sad irons and wash tubs. the big black pot that sit outside and was used for washing clothes. gathering firewood to heat the wash water, the clothes stick and the rub board.
