Subject: Re: Gates

I've always liked Sioux gates but of course mine aren't used a fraction as hard as Garvo's are. Some of my Sioux gates are probably 40 yrs old. The hinge slipping thing is aggravating but can be resolved simply. Get the gate adjusted the way you want it, then drill a hole throught the hinge collar and gate and put a bolt through it.

I really like the Whoa gates which are built of the same material and design of the standard Sioux, but are extra tall. I've never seen an animal seriously attempt to clear a Whoa gate. I've seen it done a few times on a Sioux and the top rail of the gate is usually a casualty.

Another good heavy gate with heavy hinges and chain is the Hi-Qual gates. Sold around here by the CBH co-ops.
