nw iowa
we have watched them run along our pastures and eye calves before.our cows would probably defend their calves from them tho. they would probably kill and eat a baby calf if they caught him hidden by mama, alone or outside the fence.we have a bigger issue with them eating out of our mortality box at our hog barns over night.they also like to dig in our compost piles for dead stock.i have buried cats that died and they will dig them up and take them,i have watched them do it.here they generally have enough roadkill deer, pheasants, rabbits, and mice so they usually do not mess with cattle.they are thick here too.
