“These are the times that try men's souls.” | Yes, they will eat a calf right out of a cow if she is hip locked. What usually happens is cow calves, then stands up to protect calf and tramples the calf doing so. We have coyotes bad here, had on come though milk cow yard last week in early morning. We had a sick milk cow in sick pen, well she died between 1 a.m. 3 a.m. by daylight he had eaten the teats off and worked on the head a little. Utah has them so bad across the line here they pay a $50 bounty on them right now. Always a packin' here. I had a coming 3 year old get on her back in a irrigation ditch a month ago and die. Well those dogs had her picked clean in three weeks. All that was left was rib cage, skull, leg bones. A little hide under rib cage they couldn't get to. She was in bottom of V-ditch so they could move rib cage very well. I've tracked dogs dragging day old dead calf's carcass across frozen snow for more than a mile that happened over night. |
