Eastern Kansas | Before you ever think about an off-the farm job I'd seriously consider doing more things to diversify in ag. Just like you've done with becoming a seed dealer. Get a skidsteer and build fence or clear pasture, get a bigger combine and custom cut, etc. Those are things that provide some off farm income, but still keep you aquainted with landowners and potential landlords, etc and just flat get your name out there. I am in the boat of having a good off the farm job, which in turn I think hinders my ability to grow the farm. For example, most of my neighbors I am sure think its just a hobby for me instead of something I am trying to grow and hopefully do full time some day. | |
