I'm in the same shoes as you are, we have a new 7430 coming in and are hell bent on putting guidance on it. I do like the Trimble 500 but when I went to my dealer and started talking about the price and to get started with the ez500 I was fine. Then I started talking about steering and rtk my jaw about hit the floor. With newer companies entering the market, it has given me hope that we could afford a simple ab line at a reasonable price. We are heading down to Tulare again this winter where all the companies show there stuff and last time I went I was GPS illiterate with the help of this web site I have come up with a few questions to ask next time. As for cost I don't know how accurate this is but I was quoted anywhere from 2600~ish for ez500 with WASS to 38000 for a full rtk on our 7430 which is autotract ready with all the hydraulics all ready on it That seemed high to me but like I said I’m in the same shoes as you are.
