near dyersville iowa | Im not an expert on this, but here goes anyway. If you charge the crop side 7.50, you make money on the crops and lose on the cattle. If you charge 5.00 you lose on the crop side and gain on the cattle. Six of one or a half dozen of the other. But if you didnt have cattle, you would make the 7.50 and have 2.50 profit-If your cattle do not return the 2.5/bu in sales, some people say you technically lost money. But that is money you never had in the first place, so it shows no where on your statements. In short, the only money you lost never existed..lol...clear as mud? | |
