I dont see the 1600 to 1700 hundred a day to raise a heifer. Costs me about 800 dollars in feed. That leaves alot for everything else. The key is to grow them fast. Need to have them dropping calves by 22-23 mo. 24 should be our average. Also, get them off expensive milk asap. We pull them off milk at 8 weeks, I would like to do it sooner but it seems like they will stall out on growth.
