Hilmar, California | Dad, brother and I are receiving drop holstein heifer calves from my brother in order for him to pay down some dept (we custom chop for him). His facility is set up to only milk cows, that’s all. He's always trying to re-invent the wheel. Anyways we've been doing this for about 12.5 months and we are up to 557 heifers from him. Some are actually getting bred as we speak. The idea we've been kicking around was to sell somewhere around 200 heifers and purchase maybe 100 fresh heifers.(due to high feed cost on heifers & plenty of other factors. Haven’t done much research yet but was wondering if any of you guys had some other ideas we could consider, or some advice on what you guys would do with all these little girls. TIA | |
