With your location, I would look into backgrounding calves. Start slow and don't buy wrecks. Something that will give you gains with little headaches. When/if the current job phases out, you will have some knowledge to start trying bawling calves, co-mingled calves, etc. There are a lot of people in southern Indiana that you can look to as examples.
