Subject: RE: LIME PROBLEM

Bourbon,Indiana

XF1100,

Is this no-till? It may take a while for the lime to work its way down in the profile (about an 1"/year)

Are you sure the dry conditions this year & last are not affecting you? If soil samples are pulled in dry conditions they are usually low in K & Ph (see links from previous post). http://talk.newagtalk.com/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=331948&posts=14#M2605516

Without knowing what rates you applied, or if you work your ground, and what weather you have had for the past few years, or even how fine the lime was (finer grind neutralizes quicker).......

.....it does not surprise me. Once you get your levels built up, you will not have to worry about them for a while.

Also... are your subsoils sweet or sour? If you are working the ground & pulling up sour subsoil, that will offset the lime applications.
