LakeLillian, MN | The problems that I saw in that range of hours are two major things.
1. The feeder gearbox has a tendancy to go out so if you could find out if it has been replaced yet or not. Also 2002 and newer have a 5qt gearbox instead of a 3qt. That is a good thing and I believe do have less problems.
2. The hex shaft and top drive sprockets on the feeder house chain have a tendency to strip out. Just something to ask about.
I ran a 12 row corn head on 22'' rows and could handle 200 bu corn at 5mph until it got over about 20% moisture. Then I would have to slow down, but hardly ever under 4. I would check on the new 3020 terra flex bean head. It has a lot better cutting and has a full finger auger. It is a lot easier to adjust than the 1020. Maybe should be able to find one a year or two old and bean heads are not that expensive to begin with relative to other machinery. Not sure on the acres you do, but I did about 2000 acres a year with my 2388.
