Northern Illinois | you are kinda in a tough spot because the used tractor market is so hot right now. I wanted to upgrade a 4630 that doesn't do any field work but when looking at the cost to upgrade I decided that I could live with all the things that are wrong with the 4630. But there are not engine problems or problems that require $$$ to fix.
I hear you on spending money to fix older tractors that would still have other problems. In your case you need to fix transmission but end up with a fixed tranny but still have engine problems. I guess I would say you may need to bite the bullet and spend the $$ to upgrade your tractor because (IMO) used tractors are not going to be getting any cheaper in the next couple of years. So you may spend $$ to fix your tractor this year and then end up spending $$ on a tractor upgrade next year on a used tractor that costs more next year then it would have cost this year. | |
