The next time he came to borrow the tractor after the beer can incident, I would have told him, "last time you returned it, it had spilled beer and empty cans in it, so I don't think I want to loan it out anymore."
Or you could tell him that you had a review with your insurance agent and your stuff isn't covered if you loan it out, so you can't loan stuff out anymore.
If you let it go too far, you will blow up on him.
