| I have found that Tracfone has two services, one GSM, the other CDMA. GSM they sell in bigger cities, CDMA only in areas where GSM doesn't work. Same charges, same basic phone costs, just in the almost good GSM areas stores don't sell CDMA phones. I switched from GSM to CDMA last month and the coverage with the CDMA phone is much better than the GSM phone. Newer technology and more towers in use. I'm guessing Ames has GSM because of more customers and it costs Trafone less to use other company's towers than CDMA. Costs me the same and works a whole lot better.
