W. central IL. | In illinois, it is the law to ride with the flow. You are considered to be another vehicle using the roadways and are expected to obey all traffic laws. I have biked over 30,000 miles in the last 15 years (commuted to work, cross country and "state rides") with no serious mishaps, but I have become almost paranoid about my safety. I will not ride without a rearview mirror, lights, an SMV emblem, etc. I try to anticipate what other riders/drivers will do and be prepared to react accordingly. Still, it is very dangerous to be on an open road with all of the driver distractions that are so commonplace. So sad to hear about this accident. | |
