They're made to run them at rated speed. I see no reason not to. We run ours at rated speed and have for 5 years. To the OP I would just cut the end off and run a wire from the battery. We use 120 volt extension cord plugs so we can unhook it. Put a female end on the power coming into the cab and a male end on the monitor.
