Dennis Was the military jet single engine also? Should he (they?) have been watching? Or-are they exempt? Not sure where you are...but you don't live near Baghdad, do you? "Right-of-way" rules in flying can be similar to driving. In converging traffic, the guy on the right has row. Also-usually the slower craft has row. I'd say most pilots would grant row to a circling plane if their own plane is going straight. Kind of makes sense. Lastly-maybe they both saw each other & were a lot more comfortable than you with their separation. I'm not doubting you, but 300' is pretty low for circling. You can't do a lot from there...could he have been higher maybe? 1000' (above ground)? Also-200' lateral separation isn't much. SE plane wingspan might be approaching 40'. Was there only 5 wingspan separation? I'll admit, that would make you sit up straight if you were in one of those planes & suddenly realized traffic @ 200'.
