S. Iowa | Do you think the kernel count method is still a good method to estimate yields for corn that will reach black layer? I was told to use 95,000. I planted into moisture on a bottom field that took a while to dry out, got a good stand, 3.5" in June, and inch in July, and now 3.1" in August. One of my numbers is averaging 18.6 by 35.3 on ear counts at 29,000/acre (planted at 32,000). Small amount of silk clipping is what took out some harvestable ears. I am at about 1/3 milk line now.
