NW Iowa. / SW Arizona | I have no idea if it will work for you but if you can by all means attach it to your house. I attached a garage to my house back in 1996, I was going to do what you are doing by having a breeze way but changed my mind at the last moment. I am so thankful it is attached it especially on cold windy snowy days, but I realize not all garages can be attached. Good luck with your plans I'm sure you will enjoy it attached or un-attached.
Edit; I miss read your OP & thought your garage was going to be unattached. Scrap everything I just posted :-(. Good luck with your breeze way.
