E.Central MN | Went by my tomato patch and noticed a couple plants were defoliated. Looked closer and saw some big caterpillars on the stems. A few of the green tomatoes were half eaten, too. Picked them (catepillars) off and put in a pail of water. Checked the tomato patch at my brother's house and no sign of them there. Hate to use chemicals on tomatoes, but might have to. Some of the well fattened ones were about 3" long and 7/16" wide. Wonder what kind of insect they mutate into, but not going to keep any alive to find out. Sure hope they never turn into meat eaters. | |
