There are some nice "Assisted Living" places that are available. I know of a couple older people that live in the, and are very happy. They say they sure beat the alternative of going to a nursing home. Rent is based on income, in you MIL's case her social security. Both people I know have their own vehicles & can come & go. Meals are prepared by the staff who do their laundry as well. Staff also administers in drugs they take.
