My mother always left pies and cakes sit out on the counter when I was a kid and I don't remember anyone ever getting sick.
But now my wife sticks everything in the refrigerator. I actually think the high sugar content of the desserts helps to keep them from spoiling.
Should rasberry pie go in fridge?
