SW Ontario
I can't believe the amount of people who don't understand this priciple.
First off if you buy Michelin radials, you will not buy tires sooner. Second PSI in the tire directly relates to ground pressure.
In the case of Michelins, the PSI in the tire is the pressure exerted on the soil. The sidewall is very flexible, and therefore the air is the only thing holding up the load. We just put a set of 1050/50R32's on our 750 bu grain buggy and run 15psi in them. No matter what the load, the pressure is 15psi. When the buggy is empty there is very little sidewall bulge, but when loaded there is significant bulge. If the static load doubles, so does it's footprint. You have to see it to believe it...but it is the case.
All my tires on this farm are now Michelins for a reason, the biggest is the lack of compaction and running low PSI. All radials are not created equal.
