You would think that senior wells should stay on and junior wells would be shut off first but the way it stands right now iwth Nebraska water laws that may not be the case. At least that is not how the state wants it to be. I think if they ever try to shut off senior wells they will have a court challenge and I would be surprised if the state can win that. First in time, first in right is pretty well established in the rest of the country.
The court challenge in August with Kansas may lead us in the direction irrigation is going to be in Nebraska. As much as there is being pumped this summer, it doesn't look good for NE.
