Central Il Morton | WHYNOT - 7/4/2012 08:02 I know this thread is about transfer switches, but since it has also went to talking about generators I'm curious, why do some of you not use a PTO generator? I put mine on a homemade cart and it takes maybe 10 minutes to get it up and running and suits my needs just fine. Granted, we don't have a lot of power failures, but since I have a love hate relationship with wrenching on things, I like not having another motor to maintain. So, besides not having a tractor tied up on a generator, and there being some downtime while hooking it up, is there something I'm missing?
PTO gens are fine but if your gone , who hooks up the generator? Last time my power dropped we were gone 3 wk's and it was a fault in the underground wires between the pole and house. I was the only one with out power and it would have gone at least a week before any one would have known it. |
