Subject: Re: Corn-on-Corn tillage

southern MN
I do a 40 south of you in (probably?) hevier wetter clay soils, it finally works now that I pattetrn tiled it.

I disk it and field cultivate it in spring, I need a better disk. I chiseled it one year, but don't like spring deep tillage in my clay, only gonna try that in a dry spring.

In the end, it always depends how much thr cattle get eaten off before the snow covers it up. If they can eat a bunch off then it works up and plants pretty good. This spring was excellent, I managed to run the field cultivator through it with no chopping, disking, or nothing.I field cultivated it twice, and some of the nicest corn growing out there now.

Typically I need the disk fist tho.

Tile was the best thing I did tho, to get it to dry out in spring in my soils ad climate.
