If I remember correc tly, the 3020 uses a counter-balance weight in the motor. Not sure about how it all works but had trouble with ours back sevral years ago (15?) and has been running good since. I'd take it to a JD shop(haul it in) and have it checked. You won't find a replacement for $4000 with as good a motor as a warranteed motor.
