| The other day my 9 year old son came whooping and hollering into the house and down into the basement. We go chasing after him and he's down stairs dragging out an unused 25 gallon aquarium. He says I caught a turtle and I want to keep him (the usual daily response to something he's caught). I told him we are not keeping a turtle, but let's see him.
He takes me out into the back yard and shows me a 12-16" snapping turtle he's placed into a plastic wash tub. I said do you know what you have...it's a snapping turtle? How did you get him into that tub? "I picked him up and set him in there," he responds. I said put that thing in the trees and keep your hands away from his face. Of course what I wasn't willing to tell him was that there was no way I was touching that dang thing. I've taken a lot of ribbing for it since from friends while telling the story that I made my 9 year old take care of it.
The claws on that bad boy were 4" long. | |
