My friends and I caught one in town when we were in high school, that weighed about 60 lbs. Didn't have any gloves, and just found some foam fingers from a football game and picked it up with them. As I was holding the sides of the shell with the "gloves" its back claws tore through and cut my hand. We let it go in a creek about a mile out of town hissing the whole way.

Sprockets turtle must be about six feet wide!
