Guymon, OK | I've been thinking the same thing after watching that episode, and honestly I don't know how I would react in a similar situation. I know a few things, but I don't have any formal medical training. I've always thought I should carry a basic first-aid kit in the pickup, but for some reason I've never bought one. I need to do that, and get a bigger kit to keep in the shop and carry around during harvest.
When I was planting yesterday I got to the end of the field and looked out across the feedlot on the other side of the road. I saw an ambulance parked near several trucks where they were loading (or unloading) cattle. I don't know what happened or who got hurt, but it was a sobering reminder of how quickly accidents happen and how far away help is.
